Two separate approvals are needed here, and the order matters. Whether a particular activity is advisable while managing insulin is a medical question, and whether an insurer will cover you is a commercial one that frequently depends on the first. Travellers who book the activity first, then approach an insurer, sometimes find themselves committed to something that cannot be covered on acceptable terms. Working through five steps before anything is booked usually avoids that, and it produces a much clearer position when approaching insurers about travel insurance for bungee jumping in Singapore or similar activities.
1. Speak to Your Own Doctor Before Approaching Any Insurer
This comes first for practical reasons as well as medical ones. Your doctor can advise whether the activity is suitable in your situation, what precautions apply, and whether anything about your current management affects that.
Many operators require a medical declaration, and many insurers ask whether a doctor has advised against the activity. Having that conversation early gives you a documented position and avoids discovering a problem after deposits are paid. Nothing in an article can substitute for that assessment, since it depends entirely on how your condition is currently managed.
2. Request a Written Medical Letter and Documentation for Travel
A letter from your doctor confirming your condition, the medication you carry, and any equipment you use is useful well beyond insurance. It supports carrying insulin and supplies through security, explains devices to officials, and helps considerably if you need treatment abroad.
Ask for it in English, and ask whether your doctor recommends anything specific regarding the activity you have planned. Travellers arranging travel insurance for diabetes in Singapore often find insurers ask for exactly this kind of documentation during assessment, so having it prepared shortens the process rather than delaying it.
3. Get the Named Activity List From the Insurer Rather Than the Summary
Adventure riders specify which activities they cover and under what conditions. Bungee jumping may be named, may be covered only with a licensed operator, or may be excluded while similar activities are included.
Request the named list and the conditions attached. Check whether operator licensing, height limits, or supervision requirements apply, and confirm the operator you intend to use meets them.
4. Ask Specifically How a Condition-Related Incident During the Activity Would Be Assessed
This is where the two exclusions interact and where travellers are most often caught out. A policy may cover accidental injury during a named activity while excluding anything a medical assessor connects to a declared condition.
Ask the insurer directly how a claim would be handled if both elements were present, and ask for the answer in writing. Verbal reassurance at point of sale is difficult to rely on months later at claim stage.
5. Plan the Practical Side of Managing Insulin Around the Activity
Beyond insurance, the day itself needs thinking through: temperature and storage for medication, timing around meals, what you carry with you and what stays behind, and who in your group knows what to do if something goes wrong.
Operators frequently have a secure area for belongings, and it is worth confirming you can access supplies before and after rather than assuming. Your doctor is the right person to advise on timing and precautions specific to the activity.
Getting the Sequence Right Before Anything Is Paid For
The order that works is medical conversation first, documentation second, insurer assessment third, and booking last. Travellers who reverse it frequently end up either uninsured for the activity or holding a non-refundable booking they have been advised against.
What applies to you depends on your own circumstances, your destination, and your doctor’s assessment, none of which a general article can evaluate. Nothing here is medical advice or a recommendation on any particular policy, and the two conversations that actually settle the question are with your doctor and with an insurer assessing your declared condition against the specific activity you have in mind.
